Some individuals might present challenges associated with a secondary symptom (co-morbid). For example, a child assessed with ADHD may experience feelings of anxiety, stress, low self-esteem or insomnia. Precisely for that reason, I collaborate with professionals throughout the community who are certified to assess additional clinical needs that may be indicated. These licensed clinicians are skilled in ADHD assessments, psychological assessments and educational evaluations. They also can provide therapy for children, adolescents, and adults primarily using a cognitive behavioral approach (CBT). Cognitive behavioral therapy helps individuals identify and learn unique and different behavioral skills to cope with their needs.
It has been my experience that children and adolescents frequently suffer from a lack of sleep which, invariably, leads to inefficient and ineffective academic performance. This has led me to collaborate with a licensed clinical psychologist that has extensive training and experience assessing, diagnosing and treating individuals who have difficulty sleeping for an array of reasons.
Additionally, I partner with a professional who provides academic writing instruction and support to develop critical writing skills required for essay writing, research papers, and analytical reflection -competencies required for success in high school and college. This individual designs, develops, and delivers in-service curricula in the areas of Assessment, Classroom Strategies, and Brain-Based Learning.
